I just finished a Strength run, that I'd had to leave for 30 minutes and there was no rift warden or candy cane collector when I returned to Kamadan. Finished then? Blast. Lame end, to a half-azzed event.

See you all next year... in some other game.

Well fear not if the rift wardens are gone....still highly likely that "wintersday past chest" will drop the bear. I ran the Strength of Snow like 20 or more times last nite, got tons of other non-polar bear stuff, so was worth it. (and perfectly fine that it isnt there for me to obsess about tonite again)

No 1 knows will it drop + you will most likely playing GW2 beta from year now on. If it is open for all.

except, as stated in this thread several other times, Gaile said the bear *wouldnt* be in the wintersday past chests

Nothing like a little bit of warning.... I still have 400+ candy cane shards which I could have traded in if I'd known the collectors were about to disappear. Didn't the collectors hang around for a week after the quests finished last year, or am I just thinking of the dragon festival or something? And whats the point of keeping the decorations up anymore?

Bah, only got the build because people said npc's were still up. Then they randomly take them all out, not with the build? I got owned by Anet.

The new build didnt remove the wintersday traders and rift warden, it would have happenend even if you didnt update.

I wonder how bad I would feel if I hadnt cashed in my 500+ CCS O.o

Oh well it's all over now, I wonder how many people ended up with a polar bear? And what kind of mad prices they will be up for in high end soon...

I really dislike the sudden end of the event, like many others i got stuck with a load of cc shards, oh well, a crappy end to what was imo the worst wintersday yet.

Spent all day yesterday trying to get the bear (5-10 hours worth), no luck though, I did however get a lot of alcohol, sweets, and candy canes from all the questing I did. Just wish I could turn in the 200 shards in my storage.
